WAR, FAMINE & PLAGUE: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED DURING THE FIRST CRUSADE?

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the tumultuous events of the First Crusade, launched in 1096 from Western Europe. It recounts the epic journey of tens of thousands across continents, ostensibly to aid the Byzantine Empire against the Seljuk Turks, but with the ultimate goal of seizing Jerusalem from the Fatimid Caliphate. The narrative does not shy away from the brutal realities of this conquest, highlighting how religious fervor was employed to legitimize extreme acts of violence. The film offers a stark examination of historical motivations and the often-harsh consequences of religiously-fueled conflict, prompting reflection on the complex interplay of faith, politics, and warfare in shaping historical outcomes.
