WALK AWAY

Cinemavixion Review

In "Walk Away" (2020), directors Jason Egan and Matthew Nash craft a claustrophobic thriller where a group of friends on what should be an idyllic cabin getaway find themselves trapped in a surreal, inescapable loop. The premise, revolving around a vacation that literally won't end, plays on primal fears of confinement and the breakdown of relationships under extreme pressure. As protagonists Alyssa Talbot, Faith Kelly, and Ben Bocko discover their attempts to leave the cabin only return them to its confines, the film escalates from a mysterious predicament to a desperate fight for survival against an unseen force. While the film garnered 4 wins according to external sources, its narrative explores the psychological toll of forced proximity and the terrifying realization that paradise can become a prison. "Walk Away" offers a thought-provoking, albeit tense, examination of what happens when escape is not an option, questioning how long individuals can endure each other when stripped of their freedom.
