WAKE UP AND DIE

Cinemavixion Review

Miguel Urrutia's "Wake Up and Die" (2011) is a disorienting descent into a nightmarish loop of passion and murder. The film plunges the audience alongside its protagonist into a terrifying mystery as she repeatedly awakens to find herself in the company of a stranger, only to meet a brutal end. With each cycle, the fragmented memories offer tantalizing clues, urging her to uncover the identity of her assailant before her consciousness fades entirely. While the Colombian thriller, starring Andrea Montenegro, Luis Fernando Bohórquez, and Deborah L. Sherman, garnered 3 wins, its narrative complexity and unsettling atmosphere are its most compelling features. It's a film that challenges viewers to piece together the puzzle alongside the doomed heroine, making for a tense and thought-provoking viewing experience.
