VULCAN, SON OF JUPITER

Cinemavixion Review

Emimmo Salvi's 1962 peplum, "Vulcan, Son of Jupiter" (Vulcano, figlio di Giove), transports audiences to a realm where divine squabbles spill onto mortal grounds. The narrative, presented in Italian, weaves a tale of celestial conflict as Mars, the god of war, conspires against Jupiter, abducting Venus and forging an alliance with earthly powers. Jupiter's response is to dispatch his formidable son, Vulcan, to Earth, accompanied by the nymph Etna, to thwart Mars' treacherous plans. The film, starring Bella Cortez, Iloosh Khoshabe, and Liliana Zagra, offers a blend of action and fantasy, typical of the genre, as gods and mortals clash. While the external data notes a critical reception with an IMDb rating of 4.2/10, its imaginative scope and mythological premise continue to hold a certain appeal for fans of classic Italian cinema. "Vulcan, Son of Jupiter" is a journey into a world where divine justice is meted out with earthly fury, making it a noteworthy, albeit niche, entry in the sword-and-sandal epics.
