Cinemavixion Review

Norm Christie's "Vimy Memorial: The Monument To Canada’s Most Brutal Conflict" offers a poignant reflection on the First World War, focusing on the profound significance of the Vimy Ridge memorial. The documentary revisits a remarkable historical event: the 1936 journey of over 50,000 Canadian veterans to Normandy for the monument's unveiling. This pilgrimage, one of the largest peacetime armadas in Canadian history, underscores the deep emotional and national resonance of the conflict. Christie masterfully connects the enduring tribute of the memorial to the immense sacrifices made, providing a moving examination of remembrance and the lasting impact of one of Canada's most brutal conflicts. The film serves as a powerful reminder of the lives lost and the enduring spirit of those who served.
