Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges viewers into the chilling depths of the Gulf of Finland, chronicling the ambitious hunt for the WWII German U-boat, U-479. Episode 3 of 'Hunt For U-479' masterfully weaves together the efforts of Finnish filmmakers and international divers as they endeavor to solve a decades-old maritime mystery. The narrative centers on the U-479's disappearance in November 1944, challenging the official Soviet account of its sinking by the submarine Lembit. With a compelling blend of historical investigation and underwater exploration, the film takes us from the Finnish archipelago to the English Channel. It highlights the technical prowess of a side-scan sonar expert and introduces the intriguing tale of the 'Vrouw Maria,' a treasure ship. While the primary focus remains on unraveling the U-479 enigma, the journey itself, filled with the promise of future diving adventures, offers a satisfying conclusion to this particular quest.
