UNTOUCHED RIVER LANDSCAPE OF EUROPE

Cinemavixion Review

Nestled within Croatia, the Sava floodplains unfurl as Lonjsko Polje, a testament to one of Europe’s dwindling untouched river landscapes. This 2014 documentary, directed by Heribert Schöller, masterfully captures the symbiotic relationship between water, agriculture, and a rich tapestry of wildlife. The film illuminates how the natural cycle of flooding cultivates a sanctuary of meadows and pastures, fostering biodiversity in an ecosystem that has remarkably resisted the pervasive tide of development that has altered most of the continent's waterways. It serves as a profound exploration of the intricate equilibrium between enduring human traditions and the imperative of environmental stewardship in one of Europe's most singular natural havens.
