UNPLANNED AMERICA - RAIN CITY SUPERHEROES & THE UNCANNY WORLD OF REAL DOLLS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary, 'Unplanned America - Rain City Superheroes & The Uncanny World of Real Dolls,' offers a fascinating, if somewhat jarring, juxtaposition of two distinct subcultures. The first segment delves into the lives of Seattle's self-proclaimed 'Rain City Superheroes,' exploring the motivations and societal perceptions surrounding their masked vigilantism. The narrative then pivots dramatically to the Real Doll factory, providing an inside look at the meticulous creation of hyper-realistic companion dolls. While the connection between these two subjects might initially seem tenuous, the film uses them to probe deeper questions about identity, escapism, and the diverse ways individuals seek fulfillment or meaning in contemporary society. The journey, guided by Gonzo, Nick, and Parv, promises an unfiltered glimpse into unconventional realities, challenging viewers to confront their own preconceptions.
