Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the chilling case of Gordon Cummins, infamously known as the 'Blackout Ripper.' Set against the harrowing backdrop of the London Blitz in 1942, the film meticulously reconstructs a week of terror where four women were brutally murdered and two others attacked. The narrative draws a stark parallel to the Ripper's reign, highlighting the pervasive fear that gripped the city, not just from aerial bombardment but from a predatory killer lurking in the shadows. Fred Dinenage guides the viewer through the investigation, exploring Cummins' life and the gruesome details of his crimes. The film effectively captures the atmosphere of wartime London, amplifying the psychological impact of these murders on a population already under immense strain. It serves as a grim reminder of the darkness that can surface even in the most desperate of times.
