UNCHAINED

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Unchained,' director Raphaello presents a gritty narrative centered on Aella, portrayed with resilience by Mair Mulroney. The film plunges viewers into the dark underbelly of a crime cartel, where Aella's life takes a drastic turn from mundane struggles to a desperate fight for survival. The plot, while familiar in its 'kidnapped and forced to fight' trope, gains traction through its exploration of Aella's refusal to be broken. Eric Roberts lends his veteran presence to the role of the cartel's leader, adding a layer of menace. Despite a modest runtime, the film effectively conveys the claustrophobia and brutality of the underground fighting world, focusing on Aella's spirit as she strategizes not just for escape, but to dismantle the cycle of exploitation. It's a raw depiction of defiance against overwhelming odds.
