Cinemavixion Review

Tekin Girgin's "Troy the Odyssey" (2017) offers a modern interpretation of the epic journey, drawing inspiration from Homer's "Iliad." Set in 1174 B.C., the film follows the Greek warrior Odysseus as he attempts to return home after a decade of conflict in the Trojan War. His voyage, however, is fraught with peril, taking him and his companions, including a captive Trojan warrior named Circe, through a gauntlet of mythical challenges. The narrative weaves through encounters with sea sirens and other mystical beings as Odysseus strives to reach his wife, Penelope, who is besieged by persistent suitors vying for her hand. Despite its ambitious premise, the film's reception, as indicated by its IMDb rating of 2.6/10, suggests a mixed audience response to this particular retelling of the classic myth. Starring Dylan Vox, Lara Heller, and Hachem Hicham, "Troy the Odyssey" attempts to blend ancient legend with cinematic adventure.
