TROUBLES

Cinemavixion Review

Robin Entreinger's "Troubles" plunges viewers into a disquieting exploration of psychological distress. The film centers on Marion, a young woman grappling with persistent, nightmarish visions shortly after her arrival in the USA. Her nocturnal torment takes a peculiar turn when she encounters Emma, a figure from the French underground scene who proposes an unconventional therapeutic approach. The narrative skillfully weaves a tapestry of unease, blurring the lines between reality and delusion. Désirée Deboës delivers a compelling performance as Marion, embodying the character's vulnerability and growing desperation. The film's atmosphere is thick with tension, amplified by its stark visual style and evocative sound design. "Troubles" is a thought-provoking piece that lingers, inviting contemplation on trauma, identity, and the search for solace in the face of overwhelming inner turmoil.
