TREES GROW TALL AND THEN THEY FALL

Cinemavixion Review

Tim Everitt's 'Trees Grow Tall and Then They Fall' offers a poignant exploration of familial dysfunction and the enduring power of love. Set against a backdrop of hardship, the narrative centers on Ellen, a teenager navigating the complexities of a fractured family. Sarah Aldrich delivers a compelling performance as Ellen, embodying resilience amidst her father's struggles with alcoholism and her stepmother Hilly's unresolved grief. The film delicately portrays the emotional landscape of its characters, particularly Hilly's poignant connection to her disabled husband, Roy. Despite its modest production, the story resonates with a raw authenticity, highlighting themes of forgiveness and the courage it takes to mend broken bonds. This is a quiet, character-driven drama that rewards patient viewers with its heartfelt portrayal of hope and redemption.
