TREASURE ISLAND

Cinemavixion Review

This 1999 adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" attempts to capture the swashbuckling spirit of the beloved adventure novel. Directed by Peter Rowe, the film follows a young boy's perilous journey in search of buried riches, guided by a mysterious map. While the premise is universally appealing, this particular rendition, starring Sarah Holland, Pax Lohan, and Anthony Booth, garnered a mixed reception, with critics noting a 31% score on Rotten Tomatoes and an IMDb rating of 5.2/10. Despite its shortcomings, it remains a serviceable entry for those seeking a visual retelling of this timeless tale of pirates, mutiny, and the allure of hidden gold.
