TORMENTED

Cinemavixion Review

Bert I. Gordon's "Tormented" plunges viewers into a chilling psychological thriller set against the stark beauty of a Cape Cod island. The film masterfully explores themes of guilt and retribution as jazz pianist Tom Stewart grapples with the consequences of a fatal act. Richard Carlson delivers a compelling performance as Stewart, whose life unravels through a series of increasingly bizarre and supernatural occurrences following the death of his former girlfriend, Vi. The narrative expertly builds suspense, weaving a tale of a haunting past that refuses to stay buried. Gordon’s direction crafts an atmosphere of dread, where spectral visions and unsettling omens plague Stewart’s every move. The descent into madness is palpable, marked by eerie encounters and a pervasive sense of impending doom. "Tormented" is a potent exploration of how secrets can fester and a guilty conscience can become the ultimate tormentor.
