TORMENTED

Cinemavixion Review

Bert I. Gordon's "Tormented" from 1960 offers a chilling descent into guilt and the supernatural. Richard Carlson stars as Tom Stewart, a man whose life is haunted by the vengeful spirit of his former lover after a fatal fall from a lighthouse. The film masterfully blends psychological suspense with classic ghost story elements, creating an atmosphere of dread that lingers long after the credits roll. Gordon's direction effectively utilizes the isolated island setting to heighten the sense of unease, while the spectral manifestations provide genuine scares. Though perhaps not a mainstream classic, "Tormented" remains a compelling watch for fans of atmospheric horror, showcasing a potent exploration of a tormented conscience unable to escape its past.
