TORMENT

Cinemavixion Review

Jordan Barker's 2013 thriller, "Torment," plunges viewers into a harrowing ordeal where parental love clashes with sinister forces. The film masterfully builds suspense as a young couple, portrayed with palpable desperation by Katharine Isabelle and Robin Dunne, discover their son has been abducted by a shadowy cult. The narrative expertly shifts from psychological unease to outright horror, exploring the primal instinct to protect one's child against a backdrop of chillingly depraved antagonists. While the film may not shy away from disturbing imagery, its core strength lies in its relentless pacing and the raw emotional performances that anchor the terrifying premise. "Torment" serves as a stark reminder of the darkness that can lurk beneath the surface, offering a gripping, albeit unsettling, cinematic experience.
