TO LOVE IS ENEMY OF THE GREAT DULL VOID

Cinemavixion Review

Jonathan Nelson's "To Love Is Enemy of the Great Dull Void" is a poignant exploration of existential ennui and the unexpected sparks that can ignite hope. The film delves into the life of Hank, a man adrift in a sea of personal stagnation, grappling with the dissolution of one relationship while unexpectedly finding a connection with Rose. Nelson, who also stars in the film, crafts a narrative that is both intimate and universal, capturing the messy, often painful, journey from despair to the cusp of renewed purpose. The performances, particularly from Nelson and Amanda Puggle as Rose, lend a raw authenticity to the characters' struggles and budding romance. While Hank's initial inertia is palpable, the film wisely navigates the complexities of depression and the potential for love to act as a catalyst for change, offering a thoughtful, albeit melancholic, meditation on finding light in the darkest of times.
