THROWBACK HOLIDAY

Cinemavixion Review

Trey Haley's "Throwback Holiday" offers a poignant exploration of second chances, wrapped in the festive spirit of the holiday season. The film centers on Jacqueline, a woman adrift in an unfulfilling marriage, who yearns for a do-over of her high school years. A serendipitous encounter and a touch of Christmas magic grant her wish, thrusting her back into her teenage self with the opportunity to rewrite her life's narrative. Jennifer Freeman leads the cast with a performance that navigates the complexities of regret and newfound possibility. The narrative skillfully balances nostalgic high school tropes with the mature introspection of an adult reliving formative years. While the premise might seem fantastical, the film grounds itself in relatable themes of life choices, personal growth, and the enduring hope for happiness, making it a warm and thought-provoking watch, especially for those who appreciate a touch of magical realism in their holiday viewing.
