THOSE LEFT BEHIND

Cinemavixion Review

Maria Finitzo's "Those Left Behind" offers a poignant and deeply affecting exploration of lingering grief and familial reconciliation. The film masterfully navigates the complex emotional landscape as Shelly revisits her childhood home, confronting the unresolved tragedy of her brother's suicide from twenty-five years ago. Finitzo, who also penned the screenplay, crafts a narrative that is both intimate and universal, delving into the unspoken burdens that can haunt a family across generations. The performances, particularly from Daphne Zuniga as Shelly, are understated yet powerful, conveying a profound sense of loss and the arduous journey toward healing. "Those Left Behind" is a sensitive and thoughtful portrayal of how the past continues to shape the present, inviting viewers to reflect on the enduring power of memory and the possibility of finding peace even in the shadow of profound sorrow.
