THIEVES AND ROBBERS

Cinemavixion Review

Bruno Corbucci's "Thieves and Robbers" (1983) offers a spirited blend of crime and comedy, anchored by the charismatic performances of Bud Spencer and Tomas Milian. The film cleverly juxtaposes the worlds of a charming jewel thief, Tony Roma, and the determined Lieutenant Alan Parker, creating a dynamic cat-and-mouse scenario. When Roma inadvertently stumbles upon a dangerous Mafia secret, their adversarial relationship is forced into an unlikely alliance for survival. Corbucci navigates the plot with a brisk pace, balancing moments of thrilling action with the playful banter that has become a hallmark of Spencer and Milian's collaborations. While the narrative might tread familiar ground, the execution is undeniably entertaining, providing a solid example of Italian crime-comedy from the era. The film’s premise is engaging, exploring themes of chance encounters and the unexpected bonds that can form under duress.
