THEY STOLE A BOMB

Cinemavixion Review

Ion Popescu-Gopo's 1962 film, 'They Stole a Bomb,' presents a unique blend of science-fiction, spy thriller, and comedy. The narrative centers on an unsuspecting man who discovers a nuclear weapon in a suitcase, thrusting him into a chaotic conflict between criminals and government agents vying for control. Gopo masterfully employs farce, satire, and surrealism to deconstruct the conventions of the spy genre. The film's absurdist premise and its critique of Cold War tensions offer a thought-provoking, albeit unconventional, cinematic experience that remains intriguing for its distinctive approach to storytelling and its playful subversion of expectations.
