THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE PILLIGA

Cinemavixion Review

Embark on a chilling descent into the Australian outback with "There's Something in the Pilliga," a 2014 horror offering directed by Dane Millerd. This film taps into the primal fear of the unknown, weaving a tale around the infamous Pilliga Yowie, a creature of local legend said to inhabit the remote New South Wales region. When a group of unsuspecting individuals ventures into the dense national park, they awaken an ancient terror. Millerd skillfully builds suspense, juxtaposing the stark, isolated landscape with the escalating dread. The narrative, featuring a cast including Brendan Byrne and Leoni Leaver, effectively captures the raw, untamed spirit of the outback, transforming it into a formidable antagonist. While the film may not boast widespread critical acclaim, its commitment to its creature-feature premise and its exploration of Australian folklore offer a unique and unsettling cinematic experience for fans of the genre.
