Damon Shalit's "The World Without You" is a poignant exploration of grief, family secrets, and the arduous process of healing. Set against the backdrop of a Fourth of July weekend gathering meant to honor the memory of Leo Frankel, a journalist tragically killed in Iraq, the film masterfully unravels the complex dynamics of a family grappling with loss. The narrative delves into the long-held resentments and unspoken truths that surface, threatening to shatter the fragile bonds holding the Frankels together. Radha Mitchell delivers a powerful performance as Marilyn, Leo's mother, whose grief-fueled obsession with uncovering the truth about her son's death drives much of the plot. Perrey Reeves also shines as Leo's widow, Thisbe, navigating the delicate terrain of new love while trying to maintain connections with her late husband's family.
