THE WITCHES MOUNTAIN

Cinemavixion Review

Raúl Artigot's "The Witches Mountain" (1973) is a chilling descent into folklore and terror, set against the stark beauty of the Pyrenees. The film follows a photojournalist, played with weary resolve, who finds himself drawn into the mysteries of an ancient castle and the dark legends of a nearby mountain. Accompanied by a captivating writer, their assignment takes a perilous turn as they encounter whispers of a local coven. While the film may not boast widespread critical acclaim, its atmospheric tension and exploration of witchcraft themes offer a unique viewing experience. The performances, particularly from Patty Shepard and Cihangir Gaffari, anchor the narrative, drawing audiences into the unfolding mystery. Despite its modest production, "The Witches Mountain" carves out a niche for itself within the horror landscape, promising a journey into the uncanny for those willing to explore its shadowed peaks.
