THE WINTER HOUSE

Cinemavixion Review

In the stark, isolating beauty of a New Hampshire winter, "The Winter House" unfolds as a poignant character study. Keith Boynton's film centers on Eileen, a novelist seeking solitude in a remote cabin, only to find her carefully constructed peace disrupted by the arrival of a mysterious drifter. Lili Taylor delivers a compelling performance, embodying the quiet grief and simmering vulnerability of a woman grappling with loss. The film masterfully uses its wintry setting not just as a backdrop, but as a reflection of Eileen's internal landscape. While the plot might seem sparse, its strength lies in the subtle exploration of human connection, the unexpected ways lives can intersect, and the enduring power of resilience. This is a contemplative drama that rewards patient viewing, offering a quiet yet resonant portrayal of healing and self-discovery.
