THE WILLOWBROOK

Cinemavixion Review

In "The Willowbrook," director Zach Koepp crafts a chilling narrative that peels back the glossy veneer of online wellness culture to reveal a disturbing underbelly. The film centers on Jordan, a follower invited to recover at the secluded manor of a charismatic influencer, only to discover a reality far removed from the idyllic image projected online. Jessica Bishop and Erin Day deliver compelling performances, navigating the escalating tension and Jordan's dawning realization of the sinister truths hidden within the manor's walls. Koepp masterfully builds an atmosphere of unease, contrasting the curated perfection of the influencer's brand with the encroaching darkness. While the film may not shy away from its thriller roots, it offers a thought-provoking commentary on authenticity, manipulation, and the often-unseen costs of societal pressures. "The Willowbrook" is a suspenseful exploration of hidden motives and the perils of aspirational living.
