THE UNNATURALS

Cinemavixion Review

Antonio Margheriti's "The Unnaturals" (1969) plunges viewers into a chilling séance at a remote mansion, ingeniously weaving a tale of past transgressions against the backdrop of a raging storm. The film masterfully employs an extensive flashback structure, compelling the audience to confront the dark histories of its characters as their criminal acts are gradually unveiled. With a cast including Joachim Fuchsberger, Marianne Koch, and Helga Anders, Margheriti crafts a suspenseful narrative that explores themes of guilt and retribution. While perhaps not widely celebrated with major awards, "The Unnaturals" stands as a compelling example of atmospheric thriller filmmaking from its era, offering a thought-provoking descent into the moral complexities of its protagonists.
