THE TRUE STORY OF AL SCHWIMMER | A WING AND A PRAYER

Cinemavixion Review

In the wake of the Holocaust and the nascent declaration of Israel's statehood, a remarkable group of individuals embarked on a perilous mission, chronicled in "A Wing and a Prayer." This documentary unearths the clandestine efforts of American pilots, engineers, and radio operators, led by WWII veteran Al Schwimmer, who defied U.S. laws to arm and protect the fragile Jewish state. Facing an onslaught from five invading Arab armies in 1948, these unsung heroes smuggled weapons and undertook dangerous flights, ultimately contributing to the formation of the Israeli Air Force. The film delves into their personal sacrifices and the extraordinary courage required to achieve the seemingly impossible, presenting a narrative of conviction and determination that had been shrouded in secrecy for decades. "A Wing and a Prayer" is a compelling testament to the power of human will in the face of overwhelming odds.
