THE SWERVE

Cinemavixion Review

Dean Kapsalis' feature debut, 'The Swerve,' is a chilling and incisive exploration of a woman's unraveling mental state. Azura Skye delivers a powerhouse performance as Holly, a seemingly content wife and mother whose meticulously constructed life begins to fracture under the weight of insomnia, unsettling dreams, and inexplicable disturbances. Kapsalis masterfully crafts an atmosphere of creeping dread, blurring the lines between reality and delusion, inviting the audience into Holly's disorienting experience. The film's haunting meditation on mental illness is amplified by its tight narrative and Skye's raw portrayal, making 'The Swerve' a deeply affecting and memorable cinematic journey that has earned significant critical acclaim, including a remarkable 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.
