THE STRAUN HOUSE

Cinemavixion Review

Jeff Broadstreet's 'The Straun House' plunges viewers into a disquieting exploration of psychological manipulation disguised as therapeutic intervention. The narrative centers on Michael Dare, whose participation in an experimental study at the Straun Foundation unearths a sinister agenda far removed from its purported aim of treating rage impulse disorder. Andrew Divoff delivers a chilling performance as the enigmatic Dr. Timothy Straun, whose motivations become increasingly disturbing as the film progresses. The film excels in building a palpable atmosphere of dread, enhanced by the claustrophobic setting and a plot that steadily unravels dark secrets. While the IMDb rating suggests a critical reception leaning towards the negative, the film's commitment to its unsettling premise and its effective portrayal of paranoia make it a noteworthy, albeit grim, entry in the thriller genre.
