THE STORK CLUB

Cinemavixion Review

Hal Walker's "The Stork Club" transports viewers to the glittering heart of New York's most exclusive nightclub, offering a delightful blend of romance, comedy, and musical flair. Betty Hutton shines as a hat-check girl whose life takes an unexpected turn after saving a wealthy patron, played with charming gravitas by Barry Fitzgerald. The ensuing romantic entanglements, complicated by Fitzgerald's overwhelming gratitude and the return of her beau, Don DeFore, form the comedic core of this engaging 1945 musical. With songs by Sammy Cahn and Hoagy Carmichael, and a vivacious performance from Hutton, the film captures a timeless sense of glamour and lighthearted escapism. Its narrative, reminiscent of Damon Runyon's storytelling, ensures a captivating experience that celebrates love, ambition, and the magic of the big city.
