THE STATE OF US

Cinemavixion Review

In 'The State Of US', director Mora Stephens crafts a compelling narrative that explores the delicate dance between political conviction and burgeoning personal affection. Set against the backdrop of a fervent GOP Convention, the film introduces us to a young Republican delegate whose path unexpectedly crosses with a former classmate involved in the protests outside. What begins as a chance encounter blossoms into a forbidden romance, skillfully interwoven with actual footage of the demonstrations. This unique blend of documentary and drama highlights how human connection can transcend ideological divides, challenging viewers to consider the personal amidst the political. Matthew Mabe and Woodwyn Koons lead a cast that navigates this complex emotional landscape with sincerity, offering a poignant look at love's potential to bloom even in the most polarized environments.
