THE STANDOFF

Cinemavixion Review

In 'The Standoff,' director Ilyssa Goodman presents a relatable, albeit heightened, scenario for a group of teens vying for a dream car. The premise is simple yet effective: can young rivals endure a grueling, sleepless competition, testing their physical and emotional limits? Olivia Holt and Ryan McCartan lead a cast that navigates the comedic and dramatic beats of this endurance challenge. While the film's Rotten Tomatoes score suggests a mixed critical reception, its engaging plot and focus on youthful ambition offer a lighthearted viewing experience. The film effectively captures the anxieties and desires of its target audience, making the stakes feel high for the participants, and by extension, the viewers.
