THE SOLDIER'S TALE - LA STORIA DEL SOLDATO

Cinemavixion Review

This animated adaptation of Igor Stravinsky's "L'Histoire du soldat" (The Soldier's Tale) comes from director R.O. Blechman. The narrative, as suggested by the description, follows a soldier returning from war who encounters a mysterious stranger interested in his violin. This stranger is revealed to be the Devil, leading to a Faustian bargain. The film features the voice talents of Max von Sydow, Dusan Makavejev, and Galina Panova. Blechman's visual style, combined with Stravinsky's iconic music and C.F. Ramuz's libretto, creates a unique and often unsettling exploration of temptation, possession, and the human soul.
