THE SEARCH FOR SIMON

Cinemavixion Review

Martin Gooch's "The Search for Simon" is a peculiar blend of heartfelt sibling devotion and absurdist science fiction, anchored by a compelling central performance. The film chronicles David's decades-long, obsessive quest to find his brother Simon, who vanished thirty years prior under mysterious circumstances, with their father's cryptic pronouncements about "space people" fueling David's unwavering, albeit eccentric, pursuit. While the external data suggests a 2013 production and a 2016 release, with a runtime of 97 minutes, the core narrative remains consistent with the local description. Despite a modest IMDb rating of 4.2, the film's unique premise and its exploration of loss and enduring hope make it a noteworthy, albeit niche, cinematic endeavor that invites viewers into a deeply personal and otherworldly journey.
