THE ROUND UP

Cinemavixion Review

"The Round Up" presents a compelling showcase for the multifaceted talents of silent screen legend Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. Far from being solely a purveyor of slapstick, Arbuckle delivers a performance that navigates both broad physical comedy and nuanced dramatic moments with remarkable dexterity. Director George Melford crafts a western narrative that effectively balances these tones, offering a "first-class western" experience. The film is further elevated by the inclusion of a rare cameo from Buster Keaton, adding another layer of historical significance. This restored version allows modern audiences to appreciate the artistry and storytelling prowess of early cinema, highlighting Arbuckle's enduring legacy beyond his comedic persona.
