THE REAL MACBETH

Cinemavixion Review

Tony Robinson, a trusted guide through Britain's storied past, offers a compelling revisionist take on the legendary Scottish king in 'The Real MacBeth'. Dispelling the shadows cast by Shakespeare's dramatic interpretation, this documentary delves into the 11th-century monarch, revealing a ruler whose ascent to power was as fraught with conflict as the legend suggests, though perhaps with different motivations. Robinson masterfully separates historical fact from dramatic embellishment, presenting a nuanced portrait of a man often reduced to a mere villain. The film is an engaging exploration of how history is shaped by narrative, encouraging viewers to question the myths that define our heroes and villains. It’s a fascinating journey into the complex realities behind a name etched in infamy.
