Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the chilling case of the .22 Caliber Killer, a serial murderer who terrorized Western New York in 1980. The narrative meticulously reconstructs the killer's horrifying spree, focusing on his abhorrent motive: targeting young black men solely based on their race. The use of .22 caliber bullet casings as the killer's signature left investigators with a grim calling card. The film highlights the crucial role of the FBI's nascent serial killer profiling techniques, brought in to decipher the mind of a perpetrator driven by racial hatred. It's a stark examination of a dark period, exploring how law enforcement and the media grappled with a crime wave fueled by pure bigotry, and the desperate efforts to bring the killer to justice before more lives were lost.
