THE PISTOL SHRIMPS

Cinemavixion Review

This effervescent documentary, "The Pistol Shrimps," directed by Brent Hodge, offers a delightful glimpse into the vibrant world of a women's recreational basketball team composed of actresses, musicians, writers, comedians, and mothers. The film, boasting an impressive 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, shines a spotlight on the multifaceted lives of its subjects, proving that talent and tenacity extend far beyond the screen and stage. Featuring the wonderfully deadpan Aubrey Plaza and a host of other engaging personalities, the documentary humorously and heartwarmingly illustrates that these women are indeed formidable "ballers" in both sports and comedy. It's a feel-good celebration of female camaraderie and the joy of pursuing passions, proving that athleticism and artistic flair can beautifully coexist.
