THE PEARL, QATAR

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a fascinating glimpse into The Pearl, Qatar, a man-made island that stands as a monument to opulence and ambition. Positioned as a jewel in Doha's crown, it's presented as a microcosm of Qatar's meteoric rise as one of the world's wealthiest nations, particularly in the context of its hosting the FIFA World Cup. The film commendably shifts focus from the glittering facade to the often-unseen workforce – the builders, waiters, and engineers – whose labor underpins this vision of 21st-century luxury. It's a compelling exploration of aspiration, development, and the human element behind extravagant global showcases, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface of a cosmopolitan paradise.
