THE PATROL

Cinemavixion Review

Tom Petch's 'The Patrol' plunges viewers into the unforgiving landscape of the Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in 2006. The film masterfully chronicles the harrowing experiences of a British Army Operational Mentor and Liaison Team, whose initial optimism for a peaceful mission quickly dissolves amidst the escalating Taliban insurgency. As the soldiers grapple with the complexities of their role and the mounting operational challenges, the narrative delves into themes of duty, disillusionment, and the moral ambiguities of war. Featuring strong performances from Nav Sidhu, Ben Righton, and Owain Arthur, 'The Patrol' is a gritty and thought-provoking war drama that earned a commendable 64% on Rotten Tomatoes. Its unflinching portrayal of the human cost of conflict offers a stark reminder of the sacrifices made and the difficult questions that arise in such volatile environments.
