Cinemavixion Review
Time Team embarks on a compelling archaeological quest in 'The Mystery Of St. Hilda's Lost Anglo-Saxon Monastery,' delving into the windswept Headland at Hartlepool. The series meticulously reconstructs the challenging conditions faced by the team as they attempt to pinpoint the precise location of a monastery that flourished 1,200 years ago, boasting a community of both monks and nuns. Central to this historical puzzle is the formidable figure of Saint Hilda, a pivotal saint and abbess. Her influence extended beyond her own foundations, notably at Whitby, which hosted the significant Synod of Whitby in 664. The documentary highlights Hilda's crucial role in the Christianization of Anglo-Saxon England, emphasizing her wisdom which attracted royal counsel. This episode is a fascinating exploration of faith, history, and the enduring power of a remarkable historical figure.
