THE MYSTERIOUS POND

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary series, "The Mysterious Pond," from 2019, helmed by director Dominique Hennequin, offers a compelling re-evaluation of commonly feared creatures. Featuring animation by John Howe, known for his work on "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit," the series blends artistry with wildlife imagery to challenge centuries-old superstitions. It aims to replace ingrained fears with an appreciation for the ecological importance and inherent beauty of species often maligned in folklore, such as owls, bats, snakes, and toads. By juxtaposing myth with reality, "The Mysterious Pond" invites viewers to reconsider their perceptions and discover the vital roles these animals play in the natural world.
