THE MIDWIFE

Cinemavixion Review

A chilling descent into domestic dread, "The Midwife" masterfully blurs the lines between grief and the supernatural. This 2021 British horror film, directed by Marta Baidek and Ryan Gage, plunges viewers into the unsettling reality of a young couple whose idyllic home becomes a stage for escalating paranormal terrors. The narrative, centered on the psychological toll of loss and the unsettling possibility of a vengeful spirit, is amplified by a palpable sense of unease. While the film boasts a modest IMDb rating of 3.8, its strength lies in its atmospheric tension and the compelling performances, particularly from Lara Goodison and Jeremy Joyce, who navigate the descent into horror with convincing vulnerability. "The Midwife" offers a taut, suspenseful experience that will resonate with fans of psychological horror, exploring the profound ways in which personal tragedy can manifest as external terror.
