In the nascent years of the Republic of China, "The Medicine King Coffin" introduces us to He Changsheng, a young physician whose dedication to healing is inherited from his grandfather. Following his mentor's passing, He establishes a humble clinic in Shanghai, committed to serving the common people. His quiet life is disrupted by the arrival of Man, a woman from the Miao ethnic group, who appears to collect a debt, invoking a promise made by He's father. The ensuing confrontation is dramatically interrupted by the arrival of He Renjian, accompanied by foreign mercenaries, surrounding the clinic and hinting at a deeper, more complex narrative. The film sets a compelling stage, blending historical setting with mystery and impending conflict, promising a tale of duty, heritage, and unforeseen challenges.
