THE LOST SOULS OF POMPEII | VOICES OF THE DEAD

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges viewers into the heart of 79 AD, offering a poignant and meticulously reconstructed glimpse into the final 24 hours of five Pompeii residents. Narrated with evident care by Bettany, the film moves beyond historical accounts to embody the human element of this catastrophic event. Through the eyes of a child, a soldier, a pregnant woman, a slave, and a caretaker, we are invited to contemplate their lives and final moments as Vesuvius looms. The forensic approach to piecing together their experiences is commendable, transforming a historical tragedy into an intimate, character-driven narrative. It's a powerful reminder of the fragility of life and the enduring echoes of the past.
