THE LOST MEDIEVAL CITADEL OF THE INCAN EMPIRE | MYTH HUNTERS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the compelling historical mystery surrounding the "lost citadel" of the Incan Empire. It chronicles the dramatic period of the Spanish conquest in the 16th century, detailing the Inca's retreat into the Peruvian jungles to establish a final refuge, Vilcabamba. The narrative follows the ambitious American explorer Hiram Bingham, whose quest, fueled by personal ambition and external funding, led him to the now-famous Machu Picchu. While Bingham initially identified Machu Picchu as Vilcabamba, the film highlights his significant role in bringing this astonishing Inca site to global attention. The documentary effectively blends historical accounts with the spirit of adventure, inviting viewers to ponder the enduring allure of lost civilizations and the complex legacy of their rediscovery.
