THE LITTLE GYPSY WITCH

Cinemavixion Review

Tomislav Zaja's "The Little Gypsy Witch" (2011) is a charming children's fantasy that weaves a tale of family secrets and spectral visitations. The film centers on Manusa, a ten-year-old girl who discovers her recently deceased grandmother's spirit is haunting their home. This supernatural presence is revealed to be a manifestation of a family curse, prompting Manusa to uncover a hidden past that holds the key to breaking it. Drawing from both Croatian and broader European cinematic traditions, the film is noted for its comedic yet sensitive portrayal of a Roma family. The narrative, enriched by the detailed plot summary available, explores themes of legacy and reconciliation through the eyes of its young protagonist and her friend Zdenko. While specific awards and box office figures are not widely publicized for this particular film, its IMDb rating of 6.8 suggests a positive reception among viewers. "The Little Gypsy Witch" offers a unique blend of the fantastical and the familial, making it a potentially enchanting watch for younger audiences and families seeking a story with depth and heart.
