THE LIFE OF THE QUEEN

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary, "The Changing Face of The Queen" (2012), offers a compelling look into the life of Queen Elizabeth II, charting her journey from a carefree childhood at Windsor Castle through her enduring reign. Directed by Lisa Fairbank, the film uniquely frames the narrative by examining the evolution of her public image against the backdrop of a dramatically transformed Britain and Commonwealth. It juxtaposes her early days as a 25-year-old monarch, succeeding Winston Churchill's era of rationing, with her later years as a great-grandmother in the digital age, complete with Buckingham Palace's own Facebook page. The documentary thoughtfully explores how her iconic persona adapted through sixty years of immense global change, presenting a nuanced portrait of a monarch who navigated unprecedented historical shifts.
